Trail-Pro Lift Kit for 1998-2004 Tacoma by Wheeler's Off-Road

Wheeler's Off-Road likes to keep things simple. We believe that you deserve the best price value for your dollar when you upgrade your 1st generation Toyota Tacoma. Our Trail-Pro Lift Kit costs hundreds of dollars less than our competitors' kits while including best-in-class struts, coils, leaf springs, and shocks.

We don't consider a lift kit complete without the small details. To make sure that no oversight keeps you from getting back to the trails without delay, each Trail-Pro Kit includes a Carrier Bearing Drop, Differential Drop Kit, Extended Brake Lines, and Wheeler's Rear Superbump Bump Stops.  Choose between a set of new U-Bolts or a complete U-Bolt Flip Kit for even more clearance.

Front Suspension: Bilstein 6112 Series Ride Height Adjustable Struts

Designed for the serious off-road adventure seeker, the all-new BILSTEIN 6112 Series is the ultimate suspension solution. The 6112 Series optimizes off-road and on-road capabilities with a specially tuned performance coil matched with a monotube damper featuring a massive 60mm digressive piston for increased damping control. This kit features an adjustable spring seat which allows vehicle leveling, larger tires, and increased ground clearance. These units require your existing strut upper mount plates, stem cushions, and washers. If you don’t want to disassemble your factory struts to get these pieces, we have all of them available separately. Optionally, we can assemble these struts for you so that they’re ready to bolt in. We have 5100 rear shocks available to complete your setup.

Bilstein advises that these are good for 0-2.8-inches of lift with the included 600LB rate coils.

  1. Unassembled - Includes two 6112 Struts and two loose Bilstein 600 lb/in coils - Builders must compress the coils to assemble the struts with their existing top mounts)
  2. Fully Assembled with 600 lb/in Bilstein Coils - Includes a new top mount - Spring perch is set to the top snap-ring groove for a maximum lift to achieve near-level stance with All-Pro leaf springs. Ideal for trucks without a bull bar or winch.
  3. Fully Assembled with 700 lb/in Wheeler's Coils - Includes new top mount - Spring perch is set to the top snap-ring groove for a maximum lift to achieve near-level stance with All-Pro leaf springs. Ideal for trucks with extra weight in the front (bull bar, winch, etc).
To raise the front slightly for a more level stance, we recommend using Wheeler's 3/8" Strut Top Plate Spacers.
NOTE: Leaf springs are received from the manufacturer without packaging and are shipped to you without packaging. The paint finish may be scratched by the freight carriers during the shipping process. The leaf springs can be spray painted to cover any bare metal exposed during the shipping/handling process. It's best to wait until after they are installed before you touch them up as they may also be scratched during the installation process.
THESE STRUTS ARE BUILD-TO-ORDER ITEMS. A CANCELLATION FEE OF 20% WILL BE CHARGED IF THE ORDER IS CANCELED AFTER STRUT ASSEMBLY BEGINS.

Control Arm Upgrade Option: All-Pro Uniball Front Upper Control Arms

To take full advantage of the larger tires and longer travel made possible by the Bilstein 6112 struts, make sure to include the optional All-Pro Front Uniball Upper Control Arms (UCAs) when selecting the Upper Control Arm Option for your Trail-Pro Kit.

These All-Pro UCAs are built from 4130 Chromoly and use a Teflon-lined 1" Uniball for greater articulation, strength, and clearance than stock ball joints. Zerk fittings allow for easy bushing lubrication for increased durability.

Rear Suspension: Bilstein 5100 Series Shocks with All-Pro Standard or Expedition Leaf Springs

All Trail-Pro kits for the 98-04 Tacoma feature Bilstein 5100 Series Rear Shocks specifically valved for operation in the 1st generation Tacoma.  It's digressive valving allows for better control and handling at any speed. The shocks are paired with your choice of leaf springs:

  1. All-Pro Standard 3" Lift Leaf Springs - Select these if you rarely carry heavy cargo in your truck.
  2. All-Pro Expedition 3" Lift Leaf Springs - Offering a 20% higher spring rate than All-Pro's Standard Springs, these Expedition Springs are perfect for trucks that regularly carry heavy cargo. They will add about 4" of lift to an empty Tacoma. With 400-500 lbs (181-227 kg) of cargo, the lift is reduced to about 3".
